What: The "Student Opportunity for Support" after-school program is open to all Homedale High School students. Students sign in and receive a snack provided by the National School Lunch program. All freshmen and sophomore students are required to stay until 4:30. Juniors and seniors may check out when their homework is completed. Certified teachers are available to help individuals or small groups in Math, English, and science. Upper-classmen honor students are paired with struggling freshmen and serve as peer tutors.
When: Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00-4:30 pm. Additional zero-hour tutoring is also available. For specific dates, see the the High School Student Calendar.
Where: The S.O.S. program uses the High School library as a general study area along with nearby classrooms for tutoring and the computer lab for online research. (Checking e-mails, surfing the internet and facebooking…are not allowed.)
Who: The S.O.S. program is open to all Homedale High School students who are in need of academic assistance. To help freshman students develop good habits before they lose credit in classes and fail to meet the 2.0 GPA graduation requirement, freshmen who are struggling academically with D’s & F’s will be asked to sign a contract of commitment to the after school S.O.S. program.
